Title: The Tutte polynomial and toric Nakajima quiver varieties
Abstract: I will explain how a specialization of the Tutte polynomial of a graph naturally is related to counting of linear algebra objects over a finite field. Many properties of the Tutte polynomial, such as cut and join relations, spanning tree expansion have a direct natural interpretation in this picture. In fact I will talk about 3 versions of the linear algebra problem, in the increasing level of difficulty: 1-dimensional quiver representations, preprojective algebra representations and the Nakajima quiver variety. I will give an elementary introduction to these objects.
The talk is based on the joint work https://arxiv.org/abs/1910.01633 with Tarig Abdelgadir, and Fernando Rodriguez-Villegas.
